Bunco Queen

Well last night I played my first game of Bunco. I had no clue how to play this and actually really did not want to go. I'm glad I did, because I ended up winning and came back home with an extra $30. This money will come in handy when I go to Dallas this weekend for the conference.

Since our truck is still not working my sis in law was sweet enough to lend me her car so that I can run errands and other things. I forgot how much fun it was to drive a car. Her Altima is a smooth ride, I had the cd's blasting and was singing my heart out to Shania's new cd. I can't wait till next fall when I buy my Chrysler 300 (with a hemi engine). Now I am not into vehicles or brands or anything like that, but when I first saw the commercial with that car, I was instantly in love, I must have that car!!

Well I feel like I have a million things to do before I leave on Friday morning, did I mention we are leaving at 5:00...might as well not sleep. I'm hoping we get back in time for me to watch the Oscars. I have never missed that show, it's like my superbowl and recording it is just not the same.

My Rodeo Week

Well it has been about a week since I last updated this thing. I was busy all last week with the rodeo, spent 4 days there. It was a blast.

The absolute hilight for me was Gary Allan on Tuesday 2/15...God I love that man....what a great show he put on!! Unfortunatley we were in the nose bleed section, but at least I was there. This was my first time seeing Gary and he was awesome!! I wish the show had been longer, but it was only an hour performance since it was at the rodeo...time flies when you are having fun!!
In no particular order he sang Right Where I Need to Be, Her Man, Smoke Rings in the Dark, Man of Me, Songs About Rain, Don't Leave Her Lonley Too Long, Drinkin Dark Whiskey, Allright Guy, Tough Little Boys, Runaway, Nothin on But the Radio, Guys Like Me and Bourbon Borderline.
I was sitting waaaay too far to get anything really good to post for you guys to see. Thank God for the Jumbo Screens!

Wed 2/16 we saw Bill Cosby. That was a surreal experience to say the least. I mean the man is an icon to me, I grew up watching the Cosby Show and still watch it to this day. He was so funny, he came out with a green sweatshirt that said Hello Friend , I'm glad we went to that show.

On 2/17 I spent the entire day working the booth at the rodeo from 11:00 to 8:30. I got a lot of leads and a few spa parties booked. It was a blast meeting people from all over Texas and other states. My favorite thing is offering them the free manicure and seeing the skeptism on their face....until they finish and are amazed, it is priceless...especially the men! The only thing I didn't like was the creepy guy across from us selling some wierd hair thing. His name is Mark and the man in a certified perv.

On 2/18 we went to see Clay Walker....I had to see him, he is my 2nd man behind Gary.He was so incredible! He has so much energy and gives so much back to his audience. I think he is so adorable when he dances and flashes that million dollar smile....he has such a wonderful and powerful voice, he truly puts on an amazing performance! I especially enjoyed when he sang in Spanish, the arena went crazy. At the end, instead of being driven around in the bed of a truck around the arena, he and his band walked the floor and shook peoples hands, such a cool thing to do.

I even got a cool cowboy hat to wear, I like the way it looked and got a lot of admiring stares if I do say so myself. I will probably wear it again next month when I go see Gary at Cowboys.

It Was a Happy Valentine's Day

Well today was a busy day, but it was all worth it. My Valentine's Day gift for the hubby was a fancy dinner prepared all by yours truly . It took about a week to decide what to make and fine recipes. I got up early today and headed out to Wal Mart to buy everything. I began cooking at 2:00 and finished at 7:00. The menu was the following:

Appetizers
Parmesan Tomato Spread with Ritz Crackers
Stuffed Mushrooms

Entree
Parmesan Chicken
Fettuccine Alfredo
Heart Shaped Seasoned Breadsticks

Dessert
Sweetheart Berry Parfaits
Chocolate Lover's Cheesecake
Chocolate & Mocha Sweethearts

He LOVED everything and was stuffed, said it was the best meal anyone had ever made for him :)

I wasn't really expecting for him to give me anything else since he had already purchased tickets for tomorrow's concert. After we ate, with his hand in his pocket, he told me he was having a pain in his upper leg that started today...after much questioning and playing along with him he pulls out a wrapped little box. He's was too cute, he got me a beautiful charm bracelet from James Avery with two charms that included a polished puffed heart and a cat. I have been wanting a charm bracelet for the longest time. Next, he tells me we are going to the movies, I ask which movie we are watching and he says "The Boogeyman". We get to the theatre where I find out that he had already purchased the tickets before he got home from work. He walks past the theatre showing Boogeyman and walks into "The Wedding Date".....it seems he was all full of little surprises this evening.....so sweet...it was a good night.

I am so excited about seeing Gary Allan perform tomorrow night.....I LOVE HIM!!! This will be the first time I see him. I 'm planning on going to see him again next month on the 18th when he performs at Cowboys. I think that show should be awesome since it will be smaller and more intimate. I hear he puts on a really great, high energy show.....I hope Roger enjoys it tomorrow too.

Well It's Over

I just returned from taking the TOPT and I'm satisfied with how I did. Some parts were very difficult for example, having to propose a new theme for the fall semester at a shool you teach at in Mexico to a faculty committee and defending your suggestion and all in Spanish. You only have about 30 or 60 seconds to think of your answer before you begin. Luckily I though of Diez y Seis de Septiembre because it has to do with Mexico's History unlike another girl who chose Mardi Gras and didn't know how to say beads in Spanish. In all, the test was about 50 minutes long. Gracias a Dios que ya cabe con eso! Two exams done, one to go.

Right now everyone is still asleep and I'm starving. I'm hoping we can go to Shoneys for breakfast, unfortunately it is awful outside. It's cold and drizzly and I saw two horrible accidents going and coming back from UTSA. It's the kind of day where you should stay in and watch movies, I still would rather actually be at the movies watching Hitch.

Crazy Clocks

The morning started off a little wierd today. Since I had gone to bed late the night before, I set my alarm on my cell phone to go off at 9:00. It went off and I snoozed about twice, next thing I know it's 11:00. WTF? I never turned the alarm off and to add to the mix, my brother got up nearly at 1:00 because his alarm didn't go off. It's as if selected clocks in the house stopped sometime this morning because the clocks on the coffee pot and microwave were screwed up. I hate getting up late, seems like I'm missing out on so much I could be doing.

Anyway, I called Lina and she said she would be able to retouch my highlights this evening. I wanted to go and get them done before she has her baby in a few weeks. The only bad thing is that she is moving back to Del Rio, so I will have to schedule my hair appointments around the times I go home to Eagle Pass.

Not much else to report on today. The biggest thing I have going on is my second exam in my quest to get certified. I take the TOPT on Saturday which is the Oral Proficiency exam. This is to check how fluent I am in Spanish since I'm doing bilingual education. Susie is coming over tomorrow after work so we can review a study packet. Hopefully everything will go well on Saturday, its supposed to be a short test, only about 45 minutes.

Hi There!

Well this is my first official post...Yeah!! After reviewing other blogs, it seems that everyone has something witty to say, usually commenting on a thought or social issue. I just want to be upfront with you, my blog will not be that interesting. My blog will be just my daily journal except that I will probably forget or just get too lazy and will not post everyday. In fact, I will probably just be posting once a week or once every two weeks, just like when I got my first diary when I was in the second grade. I laugh when I go back and read that because every page starts the same, " I can't believe how long it has been since I've written in this, from now on I want to write about my everday adventures". LMAO

Anyway, that being said, I hope you enjoy my "daily adventures".
