Tim Has Nothing Over Me

Today Roger decided to work out of the house so things were a bit different. It's funny how you get used to your routine everyday and suddenly there is another element added and you're not sure what to do. For example, should I go ahead and workout at my usual time or earlier because suddenly he may want to go eat or visit his grandpa at the hospital, or I can't use the computer here upstairs cuz he's working, or I can't have Oprah on in the living room because he's playing XBox. Just weird stuff like that.

Well Roger, Danny and I went for lunch at Pizza Hut. We came back and Danny left for work and Roger was relaxing on the couch answering work calls, reading sports illustrated and watching sports on TV, yes.... he is such a guy. I was doing random chores around the house and I decided that instead of my usual workout which includes 40 minutes on the treadmill, that I might enjoy riding my bike around the neighborhood instead. It was such a beautiful sunny afternoon with just enough breeze to keep you cool. We have a good neighborhood for bike riding, so quiet and peaceful, but let me tell you there are quite a few hills that can be a BITCH to ride on. Well at least I got a good workout. As I was riding up to the house I saw that Roger had moved our vehicles from the driveway and was shooting some Baskets. He challenged me to a game of HORSE where I whooped up on him and left him astonished. I even impressed him with my best "Tim Duncan at the free throw line impression"....except that I actually made the shots. It was hilarious. We shot the ball outside for about an hour and had a great time and a good workout.

We came inside for some cool water and ended up watching Oprah. The show was about Clara Harris, the dentist from Houston who ran over and killed her cheating husband, she is serving 20 years in prison now. After the show and looking at the evidence that was not showed to the jury, Roger and I both think she is innocent. It was actually quite interesting.

Tomorrow night we are headed to Houston for the weekend. On Saturday we are going to the Astros vs. Cubs game....and we will be rooting for the Cubbies. I'm hoping I will also get to watch the Spurs game late on Saturday at a sports bar or something, I'd hate to miss it.

Well I'm off, I'm getting up early tomorrow and going to Roger's cousins house so that she can touch up my highlights. I'll admit, I'm a little nervous because she has never done my hair before and her hair is a little wild. It looks good on her though but I'm not THAT adventurous, at this point, I'm too old for something that wild. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it comes out well, I might even post a pic here.

Tonight I Got to Go :)

Tonight I got to go to the SPURS game....Yeah!!! We went to eat dinner at Aldaco's before the game. If there is one thing I hate, it's being late to a SPURS game. I usually am late to everyhing, especially work, but not for this. The game started at 7:00 and we didn't get there until 7:15. The client's we took were running late so dinner took longer than we would have liked. I love the beginning of games, watching the players practice then having all the lights go off and watching the screens, the music, the announcer, the dancers running around the court with the big Spurs flag, the excitement, the screaming...and especially during a playoff game.

It was so loud in the SBC Center, I couldn't believe it, it was great! Tonight was a blowout, 104-76, my Dad who is the biggest SPURS fan out there, seriously believes that they won because I was there. He is so freaking cute, I love him to death.

My New Necklace

Take a look at my cool new San Antonio Spurs Necklace....my sweet hubby bought it for me last night at the game. He felt bad that I couldn't go with him and got it for me so I'd feel better. This makes up for the fact that they lost.

Damn My Feet Hurt

Well this weekend was fun. On Friday Roger was off due to the Battle of the Flowers Parade. We spent the day cleaning the house, he did the outside and garage and I worked inside all in preparation for his cousin and her husband who were coming in from Houston. Well, it turns out that they weren't coming until Saturday so we made plans to meet Ted and Amalia downtown for the last night of NIOSA. Just when I was dressed and ready I get a call from Ruby asking me if I wanted to go with her to the Juanes concert...she had front row tickets and backstage passes. This was like a dream come true, I had been trying to get tickets for this show but it just never happened. His music is great and he is also easy on the eyes. I couldn't believe that I turned her down, it was actually hard to say the words. I just felt bad because Ted and Amalia had gotten tickets for us and at that point, I still wasn't really sure what Roger and his family who were coming in were planning. In somewhat of a depressed mood (me being the depressed person), Roger and I headed downtown to visit his grandpa at the hospital where I got even more bad news. Roger had tickets to the first SPURS playoff game and the client he was taking decided to bring 2 other people instead of his girlfriend. Wow is me :(

Ted and Amalia picked us up at the hospital at 7:00 and we headed for La Villita for NIOSA. It was freaking PACKED. We walked in and literally stood not moving for 10 minutes. Eventually we were able to walk around a little more freely and got to eat some good food. I was happy to run into my friend Beverly who had her newly cut hair in a pony tail and even like that, it looked great! (Glad you cut your hair Bev, good choice!)NIOSA ended at 10 and we decided to go to Ted and Amalias house were we drank outside on their backyard deck until 3 a.m.

Saturday we woke up late and decided to go to the wedding with roger's cousins where we danced, drank, ate and had a great time. The reception ended at 12 so we all headed over to Chachos for more eats and drinks. We came home and went to bed around 3:30.

Sunday was great. We decided to go to Market Square for the last day of Fiesta. We all met up there around 1:00 and stayed until 5:45. We ate more food, got on rides and listened to music. I was even able to find a store that sells the ceramic switchplates I have been looking for for my living room. Walking on the street, Roger's cousin and I bought some cute straw cowboy hats and knockoff sunglasses. The worst part of today was walking by one of those games where you throw a ball and dunk the guy in the water. I was so pissed off, nearly enraged because the man inside was so racist and was saying some horrible and hurful things to the people who were playing this game. He was calling the men who were playing "Pancho" so sterotypical. He even said "Come on Pancho, I'll even get your papers notarized" and "Come on you crop picker, all you are good for is picking tomatoes". He was even mean to the kids and was insulting their parents, all were racial comments. We had to walk away because we were so mad. Seriously, this man was going to need police support when he got out of that cage cuz his ass was asking for a beating. When we were walking away, I asked a cop, can't you arrest him and he just smiled as if to say he wished he could. It was just BAD.

My evening wrapped up with dinner at Tom's Ribs and then watching the Spurs game by my lonesome. They lost, I think it was because I wasn't there.

NIOSA

Well we finally made it to NIOSA. Roger and I took Migdalia and my mother-in-law so that we could get her out of the hospital for a while. Luckily it was a nice night, breezy and fresh, so unusual here in Texas. It was packed but not as bad as last year so we were able to move around easily. I ended up running into my cousin Linda who was with her husband and some friends. We also saw a few other friends from back home. So much food, so few tickets but we tried a variety of things including churros, cotton candy, pizza, cowboy clumps (meatballs with cheese and jalapenos), fajita meat, fried mushrooms, gyros, corndogs, armadillo eggs (fried jalapenos with cheese), german chocolate cake, beer and some other sweet drink that was pretty good. No I didn't eat all that myself but tried most of it :)
We had a good time and we might be going again with Ted and Amalia but we'll see. If you ask me what my favorite thing about living in San Antonio is, it's downtown....I love it, the riverwalk, the Alamo, the mix of cultures I love going to anything that is taking place downtown. That is what I miss the most about working there.

It Really Is a Small World

I was caught totally off guard and just started crying on the phone when I called Roger on Friday afternoon. I was simply calling to find out what time he was heading home since he had been working in Eagle Pass, Del Rio and in Mexico. Well, he tells me that he is crossing the bridge back into the US and that he had made a woman cry that afternoon. I asked him what he did and he said that while meeting with a new buyer who could become a potential client, she asked where he was from and Roger said that he was from Eagle Pass. She then asked him if he knew a former boss of mine and Roger stated that he knew who he was but that I, his wife had once worked for him. Then, she says really, what is your wife's name and he says Celeste and her eyes get watery and she says she knew a Celeste who worked with her mom but that her mom had passed away. At that moment,I started crying because I knew that Roger had been talking to Debbie, who is the daughter of my close friend JoAnn who died in the flood of 98 in Del Rio. I just couldn't believe it. I think of JoAnn all the time and still remember this horrible incident like it was yesterday. Roger tells Debbie that I always talk about her mom and that I was the same person she was thinking about. What Roger didn't know and Debbie didn't mention, is that Debbie also lost her husband in that flood. Her husband David, died trying to save JoAnn, they were all so very close and loved each other very much. I remember Debbie being devastated at the funeral and my heart ached for her, I just don't know what I would do if I lost the two people I loved the most in the world in such a horrible and tragic way. It has been 7 years but I am happy to hear that Debbie is remarried now and she has a 3 year old little boy. She gave Roger a business card to give to me so that I can get in touch with her and I will be writing to her tomorrow. I find it amazing how small the world really is sometimes, I mean that was the last thing I expected to hear on a Friday afternoon....but I was pleasantly surprised by it.

VIVA FIESTA

While shopping at Wally World this afternoon, I just had to buy these flowers. I mean for $1.97, how could you not take them, so I decided to display them in honor of FIESTA which is currently taking place here in San Antonio for the next 2 weeks.

It's funny how the simplest things, such as these colorful flowers can brighten up your day.

What the heck is wrong with my blog, the page is not loading up completley. Oh well.

Nothing much going on right now, I'm just surfing the web and listening to music. I love staying up late. This time at night is my favorite, I find it relaxing. Its quiet and I'm left alone with my thoughts and can do or watch whatever I want. I can post in my blog, read other blogs, IM with my mom or friends, sell/buy on Ebay, watch music videos, post in message boards, read news stories, blah, blah, blah....this list goes on....I can't imagine my life without internet. I also enjoy late night tv like Conan O'Brien, Extra and music videos or shows on VH1. I take a lot of shit from Roger for not going to bed at the same time he does, but I just can't do it. I mean it's not like I can even watch tv in bed because he snores so freaking loud...it's a wonder I even sleep at all.....right now I'm upstairs and I can hear him downstairs. Even when I was working fulltime, I still went to bed late. The wierd thing is that I'm also a morning person, well let me clarify....I actually hate waking up early, but once I'm up and dressed I'm fine. The early morning is almost the same as night except there is nothing good on tv.

In other news, this week I finally was able to get back on track with my workouts and am seeing progress, the house is also in order and I caught up on washing. Today I made chocolate covered strawberries (yes I'm PMSing) and tortillas....I got to go see Roger's grandpa and he is doing excellent, it made me happy to see him today looking and acting so much better. Today I found out that I have a job fair coming up in May, hopefully I can secure myself a teaching position for the fall. Fiesta started tonight but unfortunatley there doesn't seem to be enough funds in the account to go party.......I feel another boring weekend coming along.

GO SPURS GO

Well I went to the game tonight....I always LOVE going to the Spurs game. Roger's company has awesome season tickets and this year I have gotten to go to more games that the past few years. 12 rows from the court is a great view and we always have a blast. One of my favorite things about the going to the game is the Coyote, he is always hilarious to watch.

Unfortunately tonight the 4 people that sat in front of us were idiots. During halftime (and several other times) they stood up the entire time in front of their seats instead of going out to walk around somewhere else, they were completely blocking the view during the whole thing. To make things worse they kept eating food from Whataburger that included a burger with cheese and bacon, onion rings, fries then later they came back with chicken tenders from Whataburger and more fries....those bastards...I was freaking starving. The worst thing was the guy in front of me was sweating a lot and everytime he stood up he mooned me....GRODY TRODY!! Also, what is up with the way some of the girls dress to these games, they either look like they are out at a club or desperate for attention...I guess some may be.

Oh well, we won so that is all that counts!

Get to Know me

Nothing new to report today. Just went to Wal Mart and to the hospital. Sadly, Roger's grandpa didn't remember my name but I think he knew who I was more or less. It's such a drastic change from how he used to be, but he is better today than he was yesterday. All we can do is pray.

In other news, I am becoming more and more pissed off at my internet connection. Most of the time it feels like I'm using freaking dial up. Actually I take that back, dial up at my sister in laws apartment is faster. Screw you Road Runner... I'm calling them tomorrow to give them a piece of my mind. We pay toooo much for it to be working like this. Because I had trouble mailing this back out today after Beverly sent it to me, I've pasted it here:

I'm a VIP

Well I'm proud of myself...I have been updating regularly.

Since Roger spent the night at the hospital last night, we didn't go over there today as there was no improvement with his grandfather. Today I finally got to clean the house from top to bottom, I'm kind of a neat freak and the house was driving me crazy. I just haven't been home long enough to get everything done until today. I also made a bananna nut bread that came out really good if I say so myself. Yes, I was Suzie homemaker today.

On a positive note, I have been promoted to Unit VIP. I am so excited and proud of myself. For those that don't know, I am with BeautiControl and I provide home spa services with spa quality products. We provide stress relieving products, skincare and cosmetics....everything works, the stuff is fabulous! You can visit www.beautipage.com/celesteadan for more info. Today we had our monthly unit meeting and Ruby went along with me since she will be doing the business also. It was a great motivating meeting, this company is just awesome. I mean who else gets free diamond jewelry, free all expense paid trips to exotic places, random free gifts in the mail like purses and jewelry, a brand new car (not leased) and great commission off your downline...and you get to be your own boss and relax while you "work"? I have some great new ideas and just this week have completley revamped my spa and the way it is done. I have some free gifts coming my way.....

Well today got off to a bad start. My sister in law called me this morning shortly after I woke up to tell me that her grandpa had just had a stroke. He was doing so well yesterday, even the doctors were saying he'd be able to go home in a day or two.
I got dressed and headed to the hospital at 11:00. Roger took an early lunch and we got to there at about the same time. It nearly broke my heart to see Roger's grandma leaning next to the bed holding his hands with her head down. I can't even begin to explain what an adorable couple they are. Neither or them can eat or sleep without the other...seriously. They are always together and I liken them to a pair of lovebirds...one just can't exist without the other. They have been married for over 50 years and still hold hands. Since they took him to undergo a scan, we ate lunch and Roger and I left around 1:30 and said we be back after work.

I came home and paid some bills then went to run a few errands. When Roger got home we headed to the hospital where we didn't get any uplifting news. It seems his grandpa doesn't remember anyone except his wife. He is having trouble trying to convey his ideas. The doctor said that in his mind he knows what he wants to say, but when he speaks he says something else. You have to speak in simple terms with him and basically tell him who you are and that often helps him remember you. He will have to undergo therapy to basically relearn everything just like a baby. At this point, we don't know if this is a permanent condition or if it will deteriorate or get better with time. We can only hope for the best and will have more information tomorrow. It's amazing how we are all concerned about his bypass surgery that he had last Wednesday and here he has a stroke. Two totally different things. Everything changed so quickly, life can be cruel sometimes.

Snoresville

Well my weekend was pretty uneventful. The sad part is that the most amusing part was watching CNN to find out how the Pope was doing. What a loser I am.

Friday Julie and I had a spa party with girls from a sorority from UIW. There were about 20 girls in total. We recruited 9 and got leads for 8 parties, so it went well. We finished up around 7:00 and I headed home to change as the weather got cool. Roger and his cousin stopped by and picked me up and we headed for the hospital. We proceeded to wait nearly 2 and a half hours in the ICU waiting room to go and see Roger's Grandpa only to find out that they had moved him to a private room and didn't bother to mention this fact to any of the family. After leaving the hospital we went to an uncle's house and ate leftover carne asada from a party we had missed earlier that evening.....yes, this was the same party we could have been to had the hospital staff told us they had moved his Grandpa. Got home early around 1:00 and went to sleep.

On Saturday morning I continued keeping vigil watching CNN on news of the Pope's condition (Can you say L-O-S-E-R?). I picked up the house a little bit then got dressed and went to get my nails done. Sadly, the Pope died while I was waiting for my nails to dry, but let me just say I love the color of polish..it's a pinkish coral.

I rushed home and tried to figure out what to wear for the evening. Ruby and I were meeting for an early dinner at 5:00 and the Spurs game at 7:30. Roger and I took off where we got stuck on I-35 for thirty minutes due to some accident and all the moron rubber neckers who were trying to get a glimpse of it....it wasn't even anything worth looking at! I hung out at the hospital for a while until Ruby picked me up around 5:15. We decided to eat at Panchitos which was yummy!! We headed over to the SBC center where we nearly had a heart attack...the game was so freaking close at the end but the Spurs pulled through. We had a blast. We even saw Monica our former CC worker who was standing in the hall where the Spurs run in and out of. She was standing with Danny Ferry. Lucky girl, we wondered what she was up to. Ruby gave me a ride home and I arrived to a full blown party at my house with all of Roger's cousins and aunt and uncle. They had never been to our house before and were loving the way it was decorated. For those that have never seen my house, it is very colorful so bring your sunglasses when you come. Everyone was drinking and playing pool in the gameroom and hanging out in the garage. They left about 20 minutes after I got home. Ruby and I played with my adorable little niece and chatted with Patty.

Today we got up and invited Patty and Eddie and the baby to have breakfast at Shoney's which was great. We stopped by the Gunn Chevrolet dealership where Eddie and Roger drooled over some new Limited Tahoes. They were nice, but there is no way I'm giving up buying my Chrysler 300 for one of those. NO SIR!!

My Future Car Posted by Hello

Next we went to Toys R Us where we bought Taty her first Carebear. It was amazing to see all the toys I played with as a child back again...pound puppies, my little pony and carebears...WTF? I guess everything does come back again, you just have to give it time. The rest of the day was spent at the hospital. We got home and watched "Phenomenom" which has always been one of my favorite movies. Gotta love John T :) When it ended, Danny and I headed over to Wendy's to get a Frosty and now here I am.

So boring, I'm really looking forward to the Poteet Strawberry Festival, Fiesta & NIOSA this month!!!
