Later Ya'll

This will be my last post for about a week. In 8 hours I'll be on a flight to New Orleans. Packing was not as difficult as I thought it was going to be, I actually fit everything perfectly, so no more having to worry about that. I'm looking forward to the change of environment and just to see new things. Pictures to be posted next week.

Oh, and if my plane should crash.....I Love You Guys ;)

Best I Ever Had Premiere

This post is going out to my Gary Allan Buddy, Beverly.

Gary's new video is set to premiere tomorrow on CMT during the "Top 20 Show." It comes on at 3:30 and they will air the show again tomorrow night.

I was able to view the video this weekend on his website and all I can say is that it is fantastic. Watching the video, it is so evident what he has been going through this past year and it is done tastefully as a tribute. He could have taken the easy way out and just done something more literal with the video, but istead, it's like he put himself out there and was honest.

Also he has a hot "Rocker" look in this video, very different than previous videos.

Update

On Thursday I officially signed my contracts for the new teaching position. My principal was also there signing his contracts and told me that my classroom was ready for me to go check out whenever I wanted. I will have to attend several sessions/workshops before my actual starting date of August 10th. I'm getting more nervous by the day, I mean what if I screw these kids up? I'm sure I will be fine, but I still keep freaking myself out.

The weekend was nice, nothing major. We decided to leave to Eagle Pass on Thursday night since Roger had to be there for work early Friday morning. I watched Anchorman with my parents, which is freaking hilarious...I love that movie. On Friday I just hung out around the house and later in the day, my mom and I went to buy a few things at the store after I was elected to make dinner that night. We spent the night at the house with Eddie, Patty and my God Daughter and had a blast playing with her. It is so obvious my parents are ready for a grandchild, but now is not a good time for me.

Saturday we went to a wedding which turned out to be like a small class reunion. That's how it is when you come from a small town, you just know it will always be that way. It is for that reason that you will never find me at the Wal Mart or HEB in Eagle Pass without decent hair and makeup.

For the good news, Roger and I are taking a vacation. We are leaving for New Orleans and are flying out on Saturday morning....I'm so excited. We have taken vacations before, but this will be the first time that it is just the two of us. We will be returning next Thursday. I don't even want to think about packing for this trip, I can't even stand packing when we go to Eagle Pass. Roger is convinced that the airline will loose our luggage so we went to buy those little carry on suitcases that fit in the overhead compartments.....It should be freaking hilarious watching me try and pack everything in that thing. Knowing myself, I will probably be pissed off that I had to leave certain things behind and will start the trip in a bad mood. That's just me.

So now here I am, trying to get things done before we leave. I have three workshops in Seguin this week and I have to finish two online bookstudy's that each have like 5 mini essays. Yes, I'm stressing out bigtime, but I just keep thinking that a week from now, I'll be relaxing in another city and state.

in other news:
I almost ended up being taken to the hospital because I became physically sick on Friday. The same thing had happen to me 2 weeks before but I didn't think anything of it. The whole thing lasts about 40 minutes and it is HORRIBLE. It starts with a pain in my back that just gets worse and worse, then travels to my stomach, I can't take deep breaths, then I begin sweating (which sucked cuz I was having a good hair day) and I just feel physically ill. We had to rush home. My uncle says it was an anxiety attack and I guess it could be, but other than the upcoming job I really am not stressed at all. I am scheduled to see a doctor next week about this. I am just worried that it could be something with my heart, my heart has been an issue with me and doctors, yet they can never find anything wrong with it....So we will see. Has anyone reading this ever had an episode like this?

My Computer is Sick

I am so bummed. My computer is NOT working. I had to restart it Friday night because it was running slow and ever since then, it just won't restart or do anything. It keeps saying there is an error message. My brother the computer genius is going to mess with it and try and fix it. I just hope I don't lose everything that was on the computer, I mean there are soooo many pictures and other things on there and it would just kill me if they all disapeared. Right now I'm using my brother's computer, but it's not the same. It's amazing how addicted we all actually are to technology. I guess I miss my computer because it's what keeps me in touch with my friends and family...everyday I read blogs and emails and things and I feel like I'm out of touch when I can't do that.

Next Time Wash Your Hands

Yesterday afternoon I went to Wal Mart to stock up on things we needed. Since the damn store only had 2 cashier boxes open, I was standing there waiting for an eternity. While waiting, I was watching the couple that was unloading their basket. They are young and she is in the early stages of pregnancy. Well I see her pick up some chicken and say "ewwwwwww"....seems the package of chicken tore and the juice/water was coming out. She is looking for something to clean her hands on and the husband pulls his shirt and tells her to wipe her hands on it and she does. At this point I begin thinking how sweet this guy is for offering his shirt. Then it dawns on me that it's also really gross and unsanitary and that he will be walking around all day with raw chicken juice on the front of his shirt. Also I mean, WTF...the bathroom is only 20 yards away, she should have washed her hands.

This post has no point other than I find it amusing what you can see by watching other people.

Movie Plug

If you have not yet seen "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" I suggest you RUN to your theatre and see it. It was fantastic!! They are showing it here in San Antonio at the AMC theatres.

Attention Class....

Great News.....I got a call about an hour ago from the Segin Central Office saying I had been recommended for the 1st grade position I wanted. So yeah, basically I got the job!! It will be official once I submit tons of paperwork but that should do it....it is such a relief not to have to worry about this anymore.

No Fireworks on the 4th

I have been nervous ever since last Monday when I got a call for a second interview for a 1st grade position I really want. Now I have been on several interviews for teaching positions and let me tell you, you never know what they are going to throw at you. I even get interviewed in Spanish since I'm bilingual certified.

I fully expected to go into the interview this morning with a big committee and just get bombarded with hard questions. Well I drive up to Seguin and get to the school right on time and sure enough, it was with a committee but the good thing is that there were only 2 additional people besides the principal.

This turned out to be the easiest interview because the questions I was asked were the EXACT same questions I was asked on my first interview and to my surprise, I wasn't interviewed in Spanish. Just to show that I do speak Spanish, I threw a few lines out to the bilingual coordinator during our conversation.

When I had my first interview on the 24th, I was stumped with one of the questions which was "What would my Reading Block look like in my first grade classroom?". I just couldn't answer this question the first time it was asked to me. I don't know if it was because the Spurs had just won the Championship the night before and I was going on 2 hours of sleep or I just blanked out. I think it was a little of both. Before I left this morning, I made it a point to review some materials and think things out, I'm so glad I did because I got asked this question again. This time I was prepared and gave a great answer that they loved!! Thank you God!!! Now I have to just wait and see what the decision will be.

In other news 4th of July weekend was restful and pretty much uneventful. We went to a party Saturday night with Roger's cousin, went to see War of the Worlds on Sunday and on the 4th we threw a last minute pool party/bbq at my sister-in-law's apartment. The best part of the night was when we packed up and all headed over to watch the Fireworks at Fiesta Texas. We get there and the cops aren't letting anyone in, so we decide to park on the side of I-10 by some railroad tracks where several other vehicles were also parked to watch the show. We all wait patiently for about 20 minutes, if you can picture us with our folding chairs and ice chests, then the cops show up and broadcast through the speaker..."If you are waiting for the fireworks they ended an hour ago!" We laugh hysterically while putting our stuff away and proceed to drive around the Woodlawn area while Pete is blowing one of those loud annoying horns that you hear at football games to innocent people walking on the street. They screamed everytime...it was great! We were like the horn bandits in my brother's tahoe. I apologize to any victims that might be reading this blog ;)

Dan waiting for the fireworks....surprisingly he has a sunkist and not a beer!

Ruby and Migdalia also waiting for the show.
