No Fireworks on the 4th
I have been nervous ever since last Monday when I got a call for a second interview for a 1st grade position I really want. Now I have been on several interviews for teaching positions and let me tell you, you never know what they are going to throw at you. I even get interviewed in Spanish since I'm bilingual certified.
I fully expected to go into the interview this morning with a big committee and just get bombarded with hard questions. Well I drive up to Seguin and get to the school right on time and sure enough, it was with a committee but the good thing is that there were only 2 additional people besides the principal.
This turned out to be the easiest interview because the questions I was asked were the EXACT same questions I was asked on my first interview and to my surprise, I wasn't interviewed in Spanish. Just to show that I do speak Spanish, I threw a few lines out to the bilingual coordinator during our conversation.
When I had my first interview on the 24th, I was stumped with one of the questions which was "What would my Reading Block look like in my first grade classroom?". I just couldn't answer this question the first time it was asked to me. I don't know if it was because the Spurs had just won the Championship the night before and I was going on 2 hours of sleep or I just blanked out. I think it was a little of both. Before I left this morning, I made it a point to review some materials and think things out, I'm so glad I did because I got asked this question again. This time I was prepared and gave a great answer that they loved!! Thank you God!!! Now I have to just wait and see what the decision will be.
In other news 4th of July weekend was restful and pretty much uneventful. We went to a party Saturday night with Roger's cousin, went to see War of the Worlds on Sunday and on the 4th we threw a last minute pool party/bbq at my sister-in-law's apartment. The best part of the night was when we packed up and all headed over to watch the Fireworks at Fiesta Texas. We get there and the cops aren't letting anyone in, so we decide to park on the side of I-10 by some railroad tracks where several other vehicles were also parked to watch the show. We all wait patiently for about 20 minutes, if you can picture us with our folding chairs and ice chests, then the cops show up and broadcast through the speaker..."If you are waiting for the fireworks they ended an hour ago!" We laugh hysterically while putting our stuff away and proceed to drive around the Woodlawn area while Pete is blowing one of those loud annoying horns that you hear at football games to innocent people walking on the street. They screamed everytime...it was great! We were like the horn bandits in my brother's tahoe. I apologize to any victims that might be reading this blog ;)

Dan waiting for the fireworks....surprisingly he has a sunkist and not a beer!

Ruby and Migdalia also waiting for the show.
